Wyndham Championship
TPC Southwind's par-70, 7,244-yard championship course was designed by renowned architect Ron Prichard, with contributions from Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller. The golf course features undulating zoysia fairways, champion Bermuda greens, and numerous lakes, streams, and ponds. TPC Southwind was placed No. 23 in Golf World magazine's Exclusive PGA Tour Course Rankings in January 2012. The golf course is in excellent condition. The golf course will be giving up plenty of birdies this week. The winning player will have to go very low with a winning score of circa 20 under par expected.
Considered one of the best courses the players attend all year round, here is some insight into the keyholes. The 165-yard, par-3 11th hole, which is considered by some to be a smaller counterpart of TPC Sawgrass' legendary 17th Island Green, requires a short iron over water to a small island green; and the 231-yard, par-3 14th, which is frequently listed as one of the toughest par-3 holes on the PGA TOUR, and the course’s spectacular 461-yard, par-4 finishing hole, requiring a tee shot played alongside a water hazard that protects the entire left side of the fairway.
