This week-AT & T Byron Nelson
The Course Overview
Course: TPC Craig Ranch
Location: McKinney, Texas
Par: 72 / Yardage 7,468
Purse: $8.1 Million / Winner $1.42 M
Fairways: Zoysiagrass
Rough: Bermudagrass
Greens: Bentgrass
Defending Champion: Sung Kang (2019)
TPC Craig Ranch, which opened for play in 2004 and hosted the Nationwide Tour Championship in 2008 and the Web.com Tour Championship in 2012, when the winning score was 16-under par, was designed by former PGA TOUR player and architect Tom Weiskopf.
The limestone banks of Rowlett Creek, which crosses the course 14 times, are surrounded by gently rolling hills and mature woodland at TPC Craig Property. The golf course has lush Zoysia fairways and Bentgrass greens. Those with course form on the Zoysia grass can hold a distinct advantage 🤔.
2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama, world No. 1 🥇 Dustin Johnson ( now withdrawn ) , No. 3 🥉Jon Rahm, and No. 5 🏵 Bryson DeChambeau lead the field. Brooks Koepka is back for his second event following undergoing knee surgery in March, and he introduces star power to the field with nine of the top-25 players in the world vying for birdie putts at Byron Nelson's event how low can you go? Can you go real low?
SKILL SETS REQUIRED - NOT REQUIRED THIS WEEK
✋🛑✋🛑 Given the new course on offer, I thought I’d offer something else in this week’s Skillsets section. To beat the bookies over time we need to beat the SP consistently. This is difficult in golf outright markets where the easily identifiable value lies in the each-way terms of bookmakers and the win part of the bet is often at negative equity over time. So to help me do that and find value in the market I use data analysis and look to other markets like top 20 and 72 hole match ups 3 ball & 2 ball matches, not all the data used is that collected by myself I use websites that have loads of free tools that can help golf ⛳️ 🏌️♀️ Betting geeks like you. I have no link with the site at all. I just believe you all should know about it if you don’t already. The free tools at data golf should be part of any golf betting kit 💼.

3 big priced outsiders to consider
In this section, I’m going to provide insights on three players over 50/1 I feel have a genuine chance of winning this week, great to include in your DraftKings teams, and if looking for a speculative outsider as an outright pick then look no further. Last week we had a near miss 😡🥵 when bubba Watson placed at tied 5th going into the 17th par 3, decided to hit it in the drink, and in a blink of eye games over. Onto this week and then headline picks come with some solid reasoning.
1 🥇 Erik Van Rooyen - 150/1 8 places He has missed 2 cuts recently so why the headline pick- let’s take a quick look at the screenshots ⬇️
Missed cuts followed by a 3rd and top 20 plus a 22nd place finish. He has also shown time and time again he can go from losing strokes in nearly every department one week to gaining in every department of the game the following week. On a course that none has seen before on the PGA tour other than James Hahn. I’m willing to throw a 🎯 at the BIG South African.
2.🥈- Doug Ghim 80/1 -8 places back for his second edition in this section. His play of recent times is worthy of some further place payouts. Take a look here where he sits in one of the model’s runs. He sits 4th in SG Approach play over the last 75 rounds on easy/moderate difficulty courses, 9th in opportunities gained,6th in proximity, and 13th in overall SG T2G. Last time out Doug missed 13 birdies putts from 10-20ft and missed the cut, he’s ready to bounce back. I was hoping for 100/1 8places but 80/1 will do just fine.
3 🥉Pat Perez 150/1 8places - No messing about this week we are going deep in the market for all 3 outsiders, a recent upturn in form has seen 2 top 30s in a row. Those results came on challenging courses. Now, heading to easier conditions with the confidence flowing I’m more than happy to throw a small 1/4 point each way at old man Pat. One thing that does get my attention is his putting stats on the bentgrass easy/moderate scoring courses, take a look for yourself …
6th in SG putting. With his iron game in good nick and his overall game standing up to the test over the past few weeks Pat kinda excites me.
